2011 State Farm Tournament of Champions
The 6th Annual State Farm Tournament of Champions has come and gone- but the players and teams of this past event will continue to carry on! Here is a current look at some of the ToC’s impressive alumni!
Who’s on fire!
The MMCI Champions- Proviso East Pirates are currently 12-0 and rated as the 22nd best high school team in the nation! The Pirates won the prestigious Proviso West Christmas Tournament as Keith Carter was named the event’s MVP.
The Huntington Prep Express (10-1) are currently rated by Maxpreps as the 3rd best Academy school in the nation while Sunrise Christian Academy (13-4) is rated #10 in the nation! The Team Works Champions- Tilton School (9-2) is currently rated as the 3rd best Prep School in the nation!
Other teams posting great records include Indianapolis Park Tudor (10-1), Montgomery Carver (16-2), Washington (10-4) and Imagine College Prep (11-4).
Ben Ryan was named MVP of the Pekin Insurance Holiday Classic! The Carver Wolverines won the Wasilla, AK Christmas Tournament as 6’6” Jr. Jeremy Johnson was named the event’s MVP!
B.J. Young of Arkansas, Quincy Miller of Baylor and Adam Smith of UNC-Wilmington are three of the top freshmen scorers in Division I basketball!
Chandler Parsons of Winter Park Lake Howell is currently starting for the Houston Rockets as a Rookie!
Tristan Thompson of Findlay College Prep is putting up great numbers as a Rookie for the Cleveland Cavaliers! Thompson was the 4th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.
STOCK IS RISING!!
Juniors Jaron Hopkins and Torren Jones of Basha are tearing it up in Arizona! Both are receiving big time college offers! The sky is the limit for these two high school stars!
Other players who continue to dominate include Malcolm Hill of Belleville East (25 ppg), Andrew Wiggins of Huntington Prep (25 ppg), Alec Peters of Washington (22 ppg) and Savon Goodman of Philadelphia Constitution who scored 46 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a win for his squad a week ago.
Did you know?
The leading shot blockers in the NBA, NCAA and High School all played in the ToC! De Andre Jordan of the Los Angeles Clippers leads the NBA in blocked shots with 3.7 per game, Anthony Davis of Kentucky leads DI hoops with 4.8 blocks per game and Nerlens Noel of Tilton School is averaging 8.8 blocks per outing on the high school ranks!
Six former ToC players are projected to be taken in the 2012 NBA Draft! Anthony Davis of Kentucky; Quincy Miller, Baylor; Myck Kabongo, Texas; John Henson, North Carolina; Bradford Burgess, VCU and Xavier Gibson, Florida State!
